Case Overview

This project was completed for a customer in Turkey, upgrading a 4m × 12m plasma cutting machine into a high-performance fiber laser cutting system.

By integrating a CINA 6kW fiber laser, along with a new cutting head, chiller, and control system, the machine achieved significantly improved cutting quality, speed, and energy efficiency.

Before Upgrade

  • Rough cutting edges with slag
  • Low precision
  • Heavy post-processing required
  • High energy consumption
  • Limited efficiency for sheet metal production

Upgrade Solution

Replacement with:
Replaced with CINA 6kW fiber laser source

Engineering Work:

  • Installed fiber laser cutting head
  • Integrated industrial water chiller
  • Upgraded to laser-compatible control system
  • Completed machine calibration and cutting parameter optimization

After Upgrade

After the upgrade, the machine was transformed into a high-efficiency fiber laser cutting system, capable of stable performance across the entire 12-meter working area.

  • Laser Power: 6kW Fiber Laser
  • Working Area: 4m × 12m
  • Carbon Steel: up to 25 mm
  • Stainless Steel: up to 20 mm
  • Carbon Steel (6–10 mm): up to 2.5 m/min

Performance Comparison

Parameter Before After
Cutting Quality Rough edges, slag Smooth, clean edges
Precision Low High
Post-processing Heavy grinding required Minimal or none
Cutting Speed ~0.8–1.2 m/min ~1.8–2.5 m/min
Production Efficiency Standard Up to 2× increase
Energy Consumption High 30–50% lower
Electro-optical Efficiency ~10–15% >35%
Maintenance Cost High Significantly reduced
Operating Cost High Lower per-part cost

Large Format Advantage

  • Processing of oversized metal sheets
  • Higher production capacity
  • Stable cutting across long distances
  • Improved efficiency for industrial-scale production
